Builder of The Year
Chuck Miller Construction, Inc. was recognized by the NAHB Research Center as 2004 EnergyValue Housing Award (EVHA) Builder of the Year. In addition to Builder of the Year, Chuck Miller Construction was recognized as a Gold EVHA Winner in the production home/cold climate category, and a Silver EVHA Winner in the custom home/cold climate category.

As 2004 EVHA Builder of the Year, Chuck Miller Construction was selected as the company that best typifies energy value and reflects the goals of the award program. As the winner of 2004 EVHA gold and silver awards, the company has demonstrated a clear commitment to building energy-efficient homes.



The EVHA program honors builders who voluntarily integrate energy efficiency into the design, construction, and marketing of their new homes, and educates the home building industry and the public about successful approaches to energy-efficient construction. The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with the 2004 International Builders’ Show.

According to Michael Luzier, president of the NAHB Research Center, “Chuck Miller Construction best exemplifies what the EVHA program was designed to honor—a dedication to energy efficiency and environmental stewardship in the home building industry. We are proud to distinguish their leadership with this award.”



This is the third consecutive year Chuck Miller Construction, Inc. has been recognized as an EnergyValue Housing Award (EVHA) winner in the production home/cold climate category. They company was recognized as a Silver EVHA winner in both 2002 and 2003.



Chuck Miller Construction, Inc. has been in business for five years, and builds 10 to 12 homes annually. Their gold award-winning 2,800 square-foot custom home features a sealed crawl space, optimum value engineering, Icynene spray foam insulation with an additional ½-inch of foam sheathing, ductwork sealed with mastic and contained in conditioned space, high efficiency condensing furnace, 12 SEER air conditioner, and ENERGYSTAR appliances. The total cost for gas and electricity to heat and cool the home for the year was $730 – an average of $61.00 a month.



Their silver award-winning 2,150 square-foot home also features a sealed crawl space, optimum value framing techniques, Icynene spray foam wall insulation, and wall sheathing with ½-inch of foam for added R-value. All ducts are contained in conditioned space and special attention is paid to air sealing. A heat recovery ventilation system brings fresh air into the home with little energy penalty. A 92 percent AFUE furnace, 12 SEER air conditioning system, and EnergyStar appliances complete the energy package. The total cost for gas and electricity to heat and cool the home for the year was $1,208 – an average of $101.00 a month.



The EVHA judges were tremendously impressed by Chuck Miller Construction, Inc. The judging panel described the company as a “great builder that is building great homes from design through [homeowner] orientation.” The judges also noted that all of the company’s marketing materials, including the corporate website, www.chuckmillerconstruction.com , tout efficiency features, and portray the logos of the energy efficiency programs in which they participate. Additionally, all Chuck Miller Construction homes are built under the ENERGYSTAR and Building America program guidelines.
