Information on Local Schools

Boise Independent School District
Welcome to the Boise School District. Here you will find outstanding schools in a district on the leading edge of education. We serve 25,000 students and employ 3,900 people, of whom 1,700 are certified staff. Our purpose statement of Educating Today for a Better Tomorrow symbolizes our commitment to provide the finest education possible for every student.

Boise School District achievement on the Idaho Standards Achievement Tests (ISAT) continues to be higher than the State as a whole. Boise’s Advanced Placement (AP) program, which provides challenging college-level coursework for students in high school, is the model for the state and nation.

Dehryl A. Dennis Technical Education Center
Under the joint direction of the Boise and Meridian school districts, the Dehryl A. Dennis Technical Education Center provides Ada County students with workforce skill development and a seamless transition to active participation in economic and community roles.

Students, grades 10-12, select professional-technical classes as a component of their regular high school day.

Chuck Miller is honored to serve as a member of the Dehryl A. Dennis Technical Education Center Residential Construction Advisory Committee. The construction industry continues to be one of the largest employers in Idaho. There are unlimited opportunities for advancement nationally and internationally of skilled craftspeople and construction managers. The Dehryl A. Dennis Technical Education Center provides exposure to real world projects, timelines and trades, allows for an effective inquiry-based educational opportunity. Students are encouraged to pursue fields of interest while in school, apply for construction internships, and permanent employment, upon graduation

Joint School District No. 2
The district continues to work to expand opportunities and to further improve our academic programs. In spring 2008, students in 5th, 8th and 12th grade demonstrated their abilities on performance-based academic measures. Students in grades 3 through 8 and also 10th grade took the spring Idaho Standards and Achievement Tests (ISAT), and as a district our students again out-performed the state average and the scores of the other large districts in Idaho.

Since 2000, the district has opened 7 elementary schools, two middle schools, one alternative middle school one, high school, and one alternative high school. In the past ten years, the district has opened schools at a faster pace than any district in the history of the state of Idaho. With an additional 1,500 students per year projected to move into the district, this rate of new school construction is expected to continue into the foreseeable future.

Kuna School District
The Kuna School District continues to be one of the fastest growing districts in Idaho, serving more than 4500 students in Ada and Canyon Counties. It is the mission of the Kuna School District to inspire every student to become a lifelong learner and contributing, responsible citizen.
